Labor Day Weekend Playlist

ello internet friends! I don't know about ya'll, but I sit all day at my desk jamming out to the radio (currently siriusxm @altnation), and I mean jamming. Also I work, occasionally.

BUT LUCKILY, this weekend is a three day holiday! So, because I am such a good friend (she doesn't even go here!), I bequeath upon you Erin's Labor Day Playlist (yes, that's the best title I could come up with. I can't be witty all the time, guys.)

I spent a disproportionate amount of time on the flow of this playlist, so I suggest listening in order (suggest is a nice way for my OCD to say, LISTEN TO IT IN ORDER). Thanks for understanding my crazy, e'rybody. You da best.

I called out some pretty sweet quotes that give me feelings and stuff and I left some of my own comments regarding some of the songs. When I say "notable lyric", I mean notable to myself... which lyric made you have feels?

ENJOY AND SHARE, CHILDREN. YOU ARE EVER SO WELCOME.

ALL OF THE PEOPLE – Panama Wedding

Panama Wedding and I tweeted back and forth one day. Needless to say, we're basically besties.

I took everything I wanted/I took everything I need/all in a day/or maybe they just want me to leave

WEEKEND – Priory

This is how I feel every time I get my big girl paycheck. Woo.

Hell yeah, I just got paid/it’s time to get this started

MOTHER AND FATHER – Broods

OMG if this isn't how you feel in adulthood, then you need to help me out because, honey, I definitely don't have the hang of this "real world thing" yet.

I don’t want to wake up lonely/I don’t want to just be fine

DANGEROUS (feat. Joywave) – Big Data

I bet you didn’t know that I was dangerous/It must be fate, I found a place for us/I bet you didn’t know someone could love you this much

STOLEN DANCE – Milky Chance

This german man's hair has so much body, how does he do it?! Probably by not showering. Yay, go millenials.

Suspense controlling my mind/I cannot find the way out of here

WORK IT OUT – Knox Hamilton

I'M SEEING THEM IN OCTOBER. CAN'T WAIT. THAT'S ALL, THX.

I know that you’re fuming at a thousand degrees /I know you’d like to take one last shot at me

AGORA – Bear Hands

Right, so every time I hear this song I start to dance like a white dad grilling at a bbq. Which I'm sure looks ridiculous at my desk, lipsyncing anyone?

No right, no wrong/At least I’m trying/When I am gone/Ain’t no more crying

STAY WITH ME – Sam Smith

ALL OF THE FEELS.

Why am I so emotional?/No it’s not a good look/Gain some self control

THE WILD LIFE – Vacationer

Starting to change/Being less guarded/And act like I’ve got it/I’m putting my heart in/Just to give it away

RIPTIDE – Vance Joy

I just wanna, I just wanna know/If you’re gonna, if you’re gonna stay/I just gotta, I just gotta know/I can’t have it, I can’t have it any other way

BUDAPEST – George Ezra

Guys, this kid is only twenty-one. TWENTY ONE. HOW?

Give me one good reason/Why I should never make a change

TONGUES (feat. Kopps) – Joywave

TIP: great song to shower to, just don't dance too much or you'll fall like me (clumsy...)

Pick me up, Dust me off/Give me breath, And let me cough/Drag me back, Collect my thoughts

TAKE ME TO CHURCH – Hozier

Another major FEELS song. I can't not sing along to this song. Well done, sir.

If I’m a pagan of the good times/My lover’s the sunlight

FLAWS – Bastille

HAVE YOU SEEN DAN SMITH'S HAIR? Go google, I'll wait.

You have always worn your flaws upon your sleeve/And I have always buried them deep beneath the ground

BEWARE THE DOG – The Griswolds

So with all my internet prowess, I discovered that this was about a friend of the band's who struggled with drug issues. Which in retrospect to HOW FUN THE SONG IS, makes me want to give someone a hug. But then I dance instead (by dance, I mean jump around like a fool).

Beware the dog who’s selling songs about defeat/Begging for love but you’re old enough to know better than you know/You hate so much and you’re better off alone

HONORABLE MENTIONS

ELEVATE – St. Lucia

DOES THIS NOT REMIND YOU OF TEARS FOR FEARS?

There’s no way to wake up now/Too many times I saw you cry/And no one can make up it/You wait for the sun to make the sky

I WANNA GET BETTER – Bleachers

For all of us who realize we need to change once we've already gone too far. (woah, that was close to being a serious statement -- I'm never serious!?)

So I put a bullet where I shoulda put a helmet/And I crash my car ‘cause I wanna get carried away

Also, because somehow this was never mentioned, and I always mention them: CATS!

Happy Labor Day! Have fun this weekend, but not too much (okay maybe a little much, but don't go overboard!)
