It's been a long haul since graduation on June 1st. Within one week, I've moved from Savannah to Philadelphia (sans job, but it'll come) After packing all my crap--who knew that after only one year in Savannah I could accumulate so much STUFF?--and packing up the trailer, I set in for the LONGEST drive of my life.
When I say longest, I mean the absolute worst drive of my life. I'm what you might call a "driver". When a family member needs to move from Vermont to Chicago who do they call? Me. I enjoy hitting the road for 15-20hrs. The drive from Vermont to Savannah took two days with a little sleep in between. That's a good time in my book.
So when I say a "long drive" it means DAMN long.
Here is a run down of the week leading up to the big drive.
Saturday: HAPPY! GRADUATION! WOO!
Sunday: Crap! Gotta move out of my apartment! AH.
Monday: Go back to work at the retail store I worked at (worked 8 hrs, yay!), then inform my manager that even though I was just coming back from a three month hiatus, I was going to have to quit. Fun conversation, really.
Tuesday: Get a trailer hitch put on my car. Help a friend get rid of some furniture (I have the BIG car) then get my roommate a trailer-storage thing so she could store all her stuff for the summer. Oh yeah, all while the skies opened up and the gods sent all their anger down to Savannah in the form of rain, wind, and HAIL.
Wednesday: Return the roommate's trailer-storage thing to the Uhaul. Start to feel sick (uh oh). Go to retail work for 5hrs. Roommate goes home.
Thursday: PACK EVERYTHING.
Friday: CONTINUE TO PACK EVERYTHING. (getting pretty sick at this point)
Saturday: Clean. Clean. Clean. Clean. Retail work for 4hrs: LAST DAY OF WORK. After work, one last karaoke hurrah with my friend Kyle :(
Sunday: GET TRAILER. PACK TRAILER. PACK CAR. CLEAN HOUSE. TRY TO STOP BEING SICK (UNSUCCESSFUL)
Sunday 10:30PM: Get in car. Start driving.
Monday 2:45AM: Just over the NC border, need sleep! Nap at the rest stop.
Monday 6:15AM: Wake up. Continue driving.
Monday 11:45AM: Must sleep. Fever has been raging for 3 hrs; completely delirious and driving are not a good combination. Stop at King's Dominion in Virginia.
Monday 12:45PM: Wake up to torrential downpour (why is it following me!?)
Monday 1:15PM: Back on road; fever has subsided, feeling better.
Monday 5PM: Stuck in traffic. Joy.
Monday 6:45PM: Finally in Ardmore, PA. BUT no one informed me earlier that the US Open is happening. THAT WAS FUN WITH A TRAILER.
Then I unpacked the trailer to my attic room (I'm living with my sister, it's cool) on the third floor. Two flights of stairs and I was parked around the block, I still can't lift my arms.
Thus ended the craziest week of my life.
Now on to the job search. Again.
